[Zechariah said,] “Praise be to the Lord, God of Israel, because he has come and has redeemed his people. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, as he said through his holy prophets long ago.” (Luke 1:68-70)

More people walk away from a casino broke than rich. With the popularity of casinos, lotteries and other forms of gambling and betting, the idea of the odds fascinates many Americans. The odds are published for the racetrack and sporting events.

An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20-21)

How different history might have been and how many lives would have been different had he become a priest, devoted to Christ?

Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. (1 Peter 2:9)

Perhaps he was right. Jesus taught us that all the commandments are wrapped up in two: Love God, and love your neighbor.
